Diving, 'Cabot Seahorse', Malta, Gozo, Jul 2014, ID 1683

Bristol UOTC

The expedition members would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mr Gwynne Roberts, Maj Alistair Ross, SSgt David Berry, OCdt Jon Alty and Mr James Bromige for the tremendous amount of hard work, leadership, professionalism and enthusiasm they have given during the expedition. The ambitious training plan would not have been possible without all of these instructors and their relevant qualifications and experience.

One of the main aims of this expedition was the minimising of cost to unit members so as to make sub-aqua diving accessible to all from the unit regardless of financial circumstances. The contributions from HQ Support Command (South) G7 AT, The Ulysses Trust, Wessex RFCA, and Bristol UOTC Alumni were extremely important in enabling this objective to be achieved and thus the expedition is extremely grateful for their generous contributions.

Lt Col Woodhouse and his staff at Larkhill Medical centre worked outside hours to enable the diving medicals required for this trip to be undertaken. For this, the expedition members are extremely grateful.

Exercise CABOT SEAHORSE was a highly successful level 3 Sub- Aqua Diving expedition. All specified and implied aims were achieved to a high standard, generating a large number of qualified divers in the unit while diving in good conditions and achieving a low personal contribution from the expedition members. Gozo is a fantastic location for a training expedition of this sort, with a large range of diving environments and some of the most interesting underwater topography seen by Bristol UOTC to date.
